Abstract
1,137,628. Fluidized solids reactors. R. PYZEL. 11 July, 1966 [15 July, 1965], No. 30965/66. Heading F4B. A fluidized solids reactor for carrying out reactions in a mass of fluidized particles 21 comprises a vessel 10 having a gas outlet 15 at the top and a metallic shell 11 with a refractory lining 12, an air chamber 25 below the vessel, a grid 20 of refractory material for supporting the particles and separating the vessel from the chamber and having upwardly tapering passages 23, with means for supplying air under pressure to the chamber 25 for escape into the vessel through these passages. The reactor also has product discharge outlets 18 projecting through the side wall of the vessel 10, and controlled by flapper valves 19. Fuel is introduced into the vessel at various points in the grid through annular arrays of pipes 38 supplied from pipes 40, 43, 47 under the control of valves 41, 44, 46, respectively, and feed-pipes 35 introduce raw material into the vessel through a central part of the grid spaced a distance from the side wall of the vessel of at least four feet.
