Abstract
1,137,918. Casings. RADIATION Ltd. 7 March, 1966 [12 March, 1965], No. 10651/65. Heading F4W. The casing of a gas- or oil-fired appliance is made up of a main unit 1, which is adapted to receive an air heating appliance, and an auxiliary unit 2 attached to the main unit and housing a primary flue 15 and a water heater 20. Air drawn in through opening 9 by blower 8 is made to pass over heat exchanger plates 5 and is discharged through openings 10 and 11, the plates 5 being heated by combustion products from a burner 4 passing between them and into a flue 13. Combustion products from both burner 4 and water heater 20 are guided by a junction flue 14 into the primary flue 15 which terminates within a draught diverter head 16 having an outlet flue 18. Downdraught is diverted by a plate (19, Fig. 3, not shown), into a relief opening 17. The casing front and rear covers may be interchangeable thereby allowing the auxiliary unit 2 to be disposed on either the left or the right hand side of unit 1. In a modification (Figs. 5-8, not shown), in which the unit is resin sealed, the junction and primary flues are connected, via ducting (23, 24) which extends through either the side or the rear wall, to a balanced flue terminal (25, Fig. 7), or to a S.E-duct wall terminal.
