Abstract
1,152,891. Hydrocarbon conversion catalysts. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. 30 March, 1967 [1 April, 1966], No. 14490/67. Heading B1E. [Also in Division C5] Hydrocarbon conversion catalysts are made by dispersing a silica hydrogel in a solution of an alkali metal aluminate, precipitating Al(OH) 3 on the dispersed silica hydrogel by addition of an acid, forming a catalyst carrier consisting of 45-55% SiOr; 55-45% Al 2 O 3 by filtering, washing and drying the precipitate and then supporting one or more metals of Groups VI A, VII A or VIII and/or one or more oxides and/or sulphides thereof on the catalyst carrier. Specified metals are Pt, Pd, Ni, Co, Fe, Mu, Cr, Mo and W. Examples describe the preparation of CoMoO 4 on SiO 2 -Al 2 O 3 and NiWO 4 or SiO 2 Al 2 O 3 Pore size and surface area data are given.
