Abstract
1,155,099. Protective system. I-T.E. CIRCUIT BREAKER CO. 14 Nov., 1966 [21 Jan., 1966], No. 50994/66. Heading H2K. A circuit-breaker tripping and reclosing arrangement comprises a current sensing means 101 inductively coupled to a or each phase of a distribution network, time delay circuits 103, 104 to provide a signal after time delays of differing lengths, a pick-up circuit 102 for preventing operation of the time delay circuits until the current in the network reaches a predetermined magnitude, a tripping circuit 105 connected to the time delay circuits for tripping the circuit breaker 106, 107 and means for disabling the delay circuit 104 having the shorter time delay. In the arrangement shown, the tripping circuit 105, in addition to tripping the circuit-breaker, steps a programmer 108 to its next step. On the opening of the circuitbreaker 107 a close circuit 110 becomes operative and under the control of a reclose timing circuit 111 controls the time elapsed before the energization of the circuit-breaker closing coil. At the same time the close circuit 110 enables a timing circuit 113 to time out to render a reset circuit 114 effective to reset the programmer 108. If however a fault persists in the network, the pick up circuit 102 prevents the circuit 114 from resetting the programmer 108. Switch means 116 determines the number of fast timedelay tripping operations and a switch means 117 determines the number of reclosing operations which will occur before lock-out is reached. The arrangement is a static circuit using various semi-conductor devices and is described in detail in the Specification.
