1,155,117. Polyolefin compositions. CHEMISCHE WERKE HULS A.G. 7 Oct., 1966 [8 Oct., 1965], No. 44877/66. Heading C3P. Antistatic crack resistant moulding materials and mouldings comprise polyethylene and 0À1 to 4 weight per cent of a salt of an amine of formula R1NR2R3 and an acid of formula R4COOH where R1, R2 and R3 are alkyl, alkenyl, alkylcycloalkyl, aryl, alkylaryl or alkenylaryl having 6 to 26 carbon atoms in the alkyl or alkenyl group, R2 and R3 may also be C 1-5 alkyl or alkenyl, or (C X H 2X O) n ,H where x is 2 or 3 and n is 0 to 10, and R4 is alkyl, alkenyl or aryl, having 5 to 25 carbon atoms in the alkyl or alkenyl group. Conventional additives and phosphite esters and alkali metal alkylsulphonates may also be added. The salts may be added directly or dissolved or dispersed in a liquid medium. Many suitable amines, acids and salts are listed, and examples describe compositions of polyethylene and (3) N,N-dimethyl – n – octadecylammonium stearate, (4) N – methyl – n – dodecylammonium myristate, (5) salt of (coconut oil alkylamine + 5 moles of ethylene oxide) and tallow fatty acids, (6) n-hexylammonium laurate and (7) C 10-14 alkyl -ammonium behenate.
