Abstract
1,172,471. Semi-conductor devices. V. K. JUDASHKIN, A. V. KURBATOV, B. D. RAFAEVICH, and R. V. STEPNYKH. 31 Jan., 1968, No. 5082/68. Heading H1K. A semi-conductor rectifier comprises a plurality of rectifier elements hermetically sealed in a unitary housing of conductive material, the anode of at least one rectifier and the cathode of at least one other rectifier being connected to the housing. As shown, Fig. 1, two oppositely poled silicon junction rectifiers 6, 7 are mounted and sealed into recesses 4, 5 in a finned heat sink 1 which is also provided with a stud 2. Three such assemblies are bolted to an insulating plate (11) provided with apertures through which the leads (8 and 9) of each of the assemblies extend and are connected to two bus-bars (14, 15) to form a three-phase full-wave bridge, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown), the A.C. inputs being connected to the respective studs of the three assemblies, and the negative and positive D.C. outputs being taken from the bus-bars (14, 15). The bridge may be mounted on the cover of an alternator suitable for an automobile, Fig. 4 (not shown).
