Abstract

1,173,192. Substituted phenoxy compounds. UNION CARBIDE CORP. 19 Jan., 1967 [28 Jan., 1966], No. 2956/67. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C3] The invention comprises compounds of the formula where R is a hydrocarbon radical which may be interrupted by oxygen or a sulphone group and which may be substituted by halogen or by hydroxyl groups, R1 and R2 are H or alkyl of 1-6 carbon atoms, R3 is halogen or alkyl or alkoxy of 1-6 carbon atoms, m is 1-3, n is 0-4, x is 2-4 and the cyclopentyl or cyclohexyl groups are not meta to the OR group. The compounds are prepared by reacting compounds of the formula with a dihalo compound, an epoxide or an epihalohydrin, and epoxidizing if desired with peracetic acid.
