Abstract
1,183,130. Herbicides containing phosphonodithionates. CHEMAGRO CORP. 27 Dec., 1967, No. 58699/67. Heading A5E. [Also in Divisions C2 and C4] Compounds of the formulae: in which R 1 , is alkyl, of 1 to 4 carbon atoms R 2 and R 3 are alkyl of 1 to 8 carbon atoms, phenyl, C 1 -C 4 alkyl phenyl or chlorophenyl and n is 0 or 1 2 are used as herbicides either alone or in admixture with a solid or liquid diluent. The preferred compound is S, S-dipropyl-2- (ethylthio) vinyl phosphonodithioate. The compounds are used as pre- and post-emergent herbicides. The active ingredients may be mixed with inert solids to form dusts, or may be dispersed in a liquid diluent, e.g. organic solvents or water, and surface active agents and/or inert solids may be added in the liquid formulations. They may also be applied as aerosols, e.g. using dichlorodifluoromethane or trichlorofluoromethane as propellants.
