[Also in Division C3] A laminate may be produced by depositing on a continuously moving conveyer the surface of which comprises paper, board or other facing material, a mixture of an inorganic particulate material and a partially expanded polyurethane foam material and providing an upper surface for the mixture which is the surface of a second conveyer moving at substantially the same speed as the first conveyer, which upper surface is also of paper, board or other facing material. In a specific example, granules of foamed glass or sintered shale are fed at a controlled and uniform rate from shoot 12 on to a moving web of paper 13 by means of vibrating hopper 14. A froth of polyurethane foam precursor is then deposited on to the paper prior to the granules and/or cutting across the fall path of the granules from a hose 15 which leads from a mixer 16. The web of paper is then carried by the driven belt conveyer 21, above which is a second driven continuous belt conveyer 24 on to which is supplied a second web of paper from supply roll 26. The second conveyer is located generally at a point where. the foam aggregate mixture has almost but not completely completed its expansion. The product emerging from between the two conveyers at 27 consists of a continuous laminate comprising the composition of polyurethane foam and particulate material with facings of paper on either side thereof. This continuous laminate may then be cut by the guillotine device 22.
