Abstract
1,197,373. Electric motors. FUJITSU Ltd. 29 Jan., 1968 [29 Jan., 19671, No. 4575/68. Heading H2A. A stepping motor consists of a plurality of individual units assembled together, where each unit includes a shaft mounted rotor, havng radially extending polepieces, lying within a stator assembly formed by two disc like cores with axially projecting radial polepieces and also housing a coil concentric with the shaft. In the motor shown, five units are used and each rotor S (a-e) is mounted on shaft 4 (a-e) which is coupled by tongue and slot coupling element 9 (a-e) to the shaft of the adjacent unit. The shafts are supported in bearings secured in the stator discs 6, 6<1> (a-e) which are clamped together in pairs by bolts to firmly secure spacer 7 (a-e) and coil 8 (a-e). Through stud 13 clamps all the units together with projection 10 (a-e) engaging counterbore 11 (a-e) to ensure axial alignment and key 12 ensuring correct angular positioning so that current passed through each coil in turn provides equal increments of rotation. A mounting flange 1 is bolted to the end unit and cover 20 encloses the motor.
