Abstract
1,199,829. Cooling and conveying metal sheets. SCHLOEMANN A.G. 1 Aug., 1968 [29 Aug., 1967], No. 36720/68. Addition to 1,117,963. Heading B8A. Apparatus for cooling and conveying metal sheets, as described in Specification 1,117,963, is modified in that inclined guides 27 on the under side of longitudinal supports 10 are provided with a horizontal portion y between inclined portions x and z. The guides are supported by rollers 28. By longitudinal movement of the supports 10, support members 5 for the sheets become level with stationary support members 4 when the rollers 28 are in contact with the portions y of the guides 27. This positioning can be carried out with sufficient accuracy with a polyphase motor driving a crank-shaft (23), Fig. 1 (not shown). The inclination of the portions x produces a more rapid raising and lowering of the support members 5 than the lesser inclination of the portions z, the former movement being appropriate for the members 5 when unloaded and the latter being more suitable for the members 5 when supporting their load. The reduced inclination of the portions z permits a motor of lower power to be used. In place of the electric motor an hydraulic cylinder drive may be used.
