Abstract
1,205,306. Automatic exchange systems. SIEMENS A.G. 18 Oct., 1968 [19 Oct., 1967], No. 49396/68. Heading H4K. In a stored programme controlled exchange, the peripheral equipment is arranged in groups with different types of equipment in each group, and communication between an equipment group and central control is effected via a first transmission bus, a group control circuit (which includes a coding facility) and a second transmission bus. The first bus U11-U1F is of the multiwire type over which signals are sent in parallel form using slow-acting devices e.g. relays as the senders and receivers. The second bus U2 has electronic e.g. transistorized senders and receivers and transmission thereover is effected in a serial binary code. The second bus is duplicated and fault analysing equipment ASE and manual control equipment FS can be connected thereto for accessing the duplicated central controls. The control circuit AS of each group is addressed in TDM manner by central control using the main second bus or an auxiliary bus. Commands such as read, write, acknowledge &c. may be transmitted on the main or auxiliary buses. Each data message (in either direction) consists of a number of bytes (multi-bit words) of which the first indicates how many bytes are contained in the information portion of the message, the second and third indicate the address of the peripheral equipment and the remaining (up to) four indicate the information. Each byte may be transmitted in parallel form over the second data bus, the full message still effectively being transmitted in serial form. The equipment groups AF1-AF11 each consist of: a threestage folded network having only one path between an inlet on one side of the network and an ” outlet ” on the other side, some of these ” outlets ” being connected to intragroup and some to inter-group links; line and trunk circuits; digit receivers; identifiers; registers; and a path finder. A satellite exchange KGV may form part of an equipment group or may comprise an independent group AFF in which case its individual control circuit is connected to the second (serial data) bus via a special data sender and receiver D1, D1
