Abstract

1,205,704. Delivering sheets. WINDMOLLER & HOLSCHER. 22 Feb., 1968 [22 March, 1967], No. 8683/68. Heading B8R. Delivery mechanism for bags having open ends or flattened bottoms, comprises two drums 1, 11 having grippers 2, 21 for delivering bags to stacks 15, 28. A given number of bags are stacked against a stop plate 11 and in front of a back plate 14 on two sets of rods 13, the gripper 2 being opened by a cam 7 carried on an arm 36. When the required number of bags is stacked, the front end of the stack being higher since it includes all the folded ends of the bags, a counter including a rotating cam 34 energizes a motor to lower arms 26, 27 which support the rods 13 on springs 24, 25, so that the stack is lowered to position 151, while the pivotal movement of the arm 36 lowers the plate 11 so that teeth 44 thereof move out of grooves 3 of the drum 1 and inactivates the cam 7, so that the bags are carried by unopened grippers 2 and transferred to grippers 21 of the drum 11, whereby each bag is turned over by passing round the drum 11 and delivered to a second stack 28 in a similar manner. A further motor is energized to drive chains 63, 64 and a pair of rods 61, 62 remove the stack 15 to a position 1511 below the stack 28, whereafter the rods 13 are raised, and when the second stack is complete, the plate 11 is raised and the cam 7 rendered operative. The stack 28 is then lowered on to the stack at 1511, and on further movement of the chains, rods 61, 62 remove the combined stack, which becomes a single stack as its upper part 28 passes off the rods 131, to a removing station, on the way to which belts 85 press on the top of the stack, which, owing to the opposite position of the higher end of the two parts, is parallelopipedal. The apparatus can be adjusted for different length and width of bags.
