A zoom lens has a first convergent unit G1 movable only for focusing at different object distances, a fixed second divergent unit G2, a movable third convergent unit G3, a fourth divergent unit G4 movable in the opposite direction to that of G3 and having its movements proportional thereto, a fifth convergent unit G5 coupled for identical movement with G3 and a fixed rear unit G6 wherein, assuming the focal length of the fourth unit to be -1 and the focal lengths of the units G1, G2, G3 and G5 to be f 1 , f 2, f 3 and f 5 respectively:- 2À3 < f 1 < 6 -2 < f 2 < 1 - 3À25 < f 1 Î f 2 /f 1 + f 2 < -2À4 1À65 < f 3 < 1À90 1À45 < f 5 < 1À67.
