Abstract
1,213,516. Pressure-sensitive recording paper. FUJI SHASHIN FILM K.K. 23 Jan., 1968 [24 Jan, 1967], No. 3538/68. Heading B2E. Pressure-sensitive recording paper is made by applying to the surface of a paper 1) an electron-acceptive material and 2) a composition comprising micro capsules containing an electron-donating, colourless organic compound capable of colour-forming on contact with the electron-acceptive material, there being incorporated in the capsule-containing coating composition a water-soluble alkyd resin, a water-dispersible metal soap, a water-dispersible paraffin or an aqueous emulsion of paraffin wax and resin. The capsules containing composition 2) may be applied to the paper prior to the application of the electron-acceptive material (1) or alternatively a mixture of 1) and 2) may be applied. The electron donating organic material may be Crystal Violet Lactone, Benzoyl Leucomethylene Blue, Rhodamine B Lactam; and the electron-acceptive material may be acid clay, montmorillonite, bentonite, attapulgite. Polyvinyl alcohol and a water-dispersible type acrylic resin latex or a copolymer of acrylic ester and styrene may be incorporated in the electron-acceptive material composition. In example 1) acid clay activated by sulphuric acid treatment was dispersed in water, the pH thereof adjusted to 8-9 with aqueous sodium hydroxide solution and the resulting dispersion was applied to a paper. There was then applied a composition comprising gelatine micro-capsules containing a chlorinated diphenyl-kerosene oil having dissolved therein Crystal Violet Lactone, Benzoyl Leucomethylene Blue and a u.v. absorber and prepared by coacervation, cellulose powder and water-soluble alkyd resin. The pressure-sensitive recording paper thus produced was white and did not show colour when stored for a long period of time.
