1,222,107. Fluidic apparatus. PITNEYBOWES Inc. 22 April, 1968 [21 April, 1967], No. 18892/68. Heading G4P. Fluidic apparatus comprises a plate 12 in which a plurality of side-by-side fluidic elements are formed by channelling, each element comprising input 28 and exhaust 30 ways and an interaction chamber, means 80 formed in the plate for interconnecting the fluid input ways, cover means 18, and means 60, 63, 65 … &c. formed integrally with the plate 12 for connecting external fluid conduits to the apparatus. A plastic sheet 14 prevents a cork gasket 16 from restricting the channels when the items are held together by rivets 22. In operation, in the absence of a control signal, laminar flow takes place from input 28 to output 30; but the presence of a control signal at 40, 42, 44 or 46 causes turbulence and almost all the flow then passes through vents 36, 38. This provides a NOR gate. By providing, e.g. a double outlet 98 from port 32, and by suitable interconnections AND, NAND and OR functions can be performed.
