Abstract
1,243,126. Inductive signalling; radio signalling. JAPANESE NATIONAL RAILWAYS, and SUMITOMO ELECTRIC INDUSTRIES Ltd. 19 Sept., 1969 [20 Sept., 1968], No. 46309/69. Headings H4L and H4U. In a system for signalling to or from a moving object such as a railway train, three conductors 1, 2, 3 are equispaced along the track, signal currents being fed in the same phase to the two outside conductors and in opposite phase to the inner conductor 2. Considering the fixed station 4 as a transmitter, a pair of pick-up coils 51, 52 on the train are positioned to couple with conductors 1, 2 and 2, 3, respectively, and are connected in series opposition so that the induced signals add at the receiver 10, while noise signals, which would tend to be in phase in the three conductors, cancel. When 10 acts as a transmitter, in phase currents are induced in the conductors 1, 3 and current of opposite phase in conductor 2 which are combined at receiver 4.
