Abstract
1,247,096. Toy vehicle track. TOPPER CORP. 25 Nov., 1969 [26 Feb., 1969], No. 57574/69. Heading A6S. A racing toy comprises at least two side-byside continuous tracks each containing a slotted uphill section 12 attached to a housing 16 in which carriage 36 sliding in groove 32 enables a player to propel a toy vehicle along the uphill section of the track. The carriage 36, which carries a pawl 28 projecting upwards through the track and engaging the vehicle, is connected between the ends of a belt which is wrapped around pulleys 44 and 45. Pulley 45 idles on shaft 47 while pulley 44, fixed to shaft 46 is rotated by an electric motor 50, causing movement of the carriage 36 along the uphill portion of the track. The pawl 28 is resiliently mounted on carriage 36 and may be depressed by a vehicle moving uphill but resists backward movement thereof. In a further embodiment the electric motor mechanism is replaced by a pulley system in which a tensioned spring rotates the pulley having a manually operable lever for selectively starting or stopping the rotation. A toy vehicle of magnetic material or one fitted with a small magnet may be propelled by a magnet attached to the carriage.
