Abstract
1,248,960. Mounting electrical equipment. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 19 Dec., 1968 [22 Dec., 1967], No. 60376/68. Heading H1R. Printed wiring boards 1 are held in spaced parallel planes by means of a channel-shaped rail 7, the base of which is provided with slots 7a into which coaxial eyes 11 secured two to a board are inserted, and a pin 13 which is inserted into the rail so as to pass through all the eyes 11. Both top and bottom of the boards may be provided with pairs of eyes 11 formed as an integral unit 14 secured directly to the respective board 1 or fixed to one end of a bar 15 secured to the board. The rails 7 into which the eyes 11 are inserted are secured to a front plate 3 and each of the boards is provided with a connector 5 so that when the unit formed by the assembly is inserted in a rack the connector 5 co-operates with a corresponding connector secured in the rack. Channel shaped rails (not shown) may be provided in the rack to guide the lower and upper edges of the boards 1 when the assembly is being inserted in the rack. The boards 1 may be interconnected at their rear edges by rails 17 similar to rails 7, each board having single eyes 21 engaging in slots and secured by pins 23. Boards 1 may be interchanged without disturbing the other boards 1 by appropriate removal of pins 13 and pivoting of the board 1 to be interchanged.
