1,249,559. Quenching cracked gas. MITSUBISHI PETROCHEMICAL CO. Ltd. 29 Aug., 1969 [6 Sept., 1968], No. 43188/69. Heading C5E. [Also in Division F4] Cracked gas, containing ethylene and propylene for example, and obtained by thermal cracking of kerosene or a heavier hydrocarbon such as light or heavy gas oil, is quenched in two stages as follows:- (1) an indirect quench in a heat exchanger, at a mass velocity of 50-120 kg./m.
