Abstract
1,249,606. Transistor pulse circuits. FRIED KRUPP G.m.b.H. 4 Feb., 1970 [5 Feb., 1969], No. 5294/70. Heading H3T. . In a circuit for pulsing a magnetron 2 by discharging a pulse storage network 5 through an inductive coupling 1 by triggering a thyristor 4, turn off of the thyristor at the end of the pulse is ensured by arranging for the triggering circuit to close a switching device 10, in parallel with the pulse storage network and separated therefrom by a de-coupling device 12. Thus, the charging circuit 6 is short circuited until after the pulse is terminated. The switching device 10 may comprise a transistor, held conducting by a pulse 8 of sufficient duration from triggering circuit 9, or by a pulse from a separate monostable circuit triggered by 9. Alternatively, a transistor switch may be controlled by a bistable circuit which is set and reset by a differentiating circuit which detects the leading and trailing edges of the pulse 8, or in another alternative (Fig. 5, not shown) the differentiating circuit triggers on a thyristor switch at the leading edge of a pulse and turns it off at the trailing edge by a transformer in its cathode circuit. The decoupling device 12 may comprise a diode or a resistor which forms part of a charging resistor. In Fig. 8 (not shown) the output pulse length may be varied by switching different capacitors in network 5 and the length of pulses 8 is correspondingly varied by changing the time constant of an astable multivibrator (9) producing them. An inductor 14 protects the thyristor from damage due to triggering pulses 8 applied when it is already on, as a result of ” charging phenomena “.
