Abstract
1,252,136. Evaporators, film type; purification of polyglycols. BUSS A.G. 17 Dec., 1968 [22 Dec., 1967], No. 59997/68. Heading B1B. Hydrofluoric acid and water are separated from solution in an absorber liquid such as a polyglycol by passing the solution from absorption column 1 through line 2 to the inner surfaces of the externally-heated tubes 3b of a falling-film evaporator 3, recirculating some of the absorber liquid from sump 4 through line 10 to the upper part of the evaporator, and recirculating the remainder of the absorber liquid through line 12 to column 1. The vapours flow from the evaporator through line 5 to condenser 6, and the condensate (HF+water) is collected in tank 7. The evaporator is maintained under sub-atmospheric pressure by vacuum pump 8. The sump 4 of the evaporator is provided with a perforated plate 4′. The flow of solution into the evaporator is regulated by valve 13 controlled by a float 14 in the sump of the column.
