Abstract
1,259,391. Shoes for disc brakes. TEXTAR G.m.b.H. 7 Jan., 1969 [24 April, 1968], No. 1000/69. Heading F2E. To reduce noise in a brake shoe 2 comprising a lining 3 and a back plate 4, the back plate is made of porous sintered material impregnated with oil or dry lubricant. A motor vehicle disc brake comprises a pair of opposed pistons 5 in cylinders 6 each acting on a shoe 2 held against circumferential movement by a collar 6a of the cylinder. The back plate may be wholly or partly of sintered iron, steel or bronze with graphite inclusions impregnated with oil or Mo disulphide. This reduces the coefficient of friction and braking is suddenly reduced when the lining wears out thereby indicating this condition.
