Abstract

1286565 Optical systems COMPAGNIE GENERAL D ELECTRICITE 25 June 1970 [27 June 1969] 30978/70 Heading G2J [Also in Division H4] In an optical scanning system in which a laser beam is scanned e.g. by a revolving mirror, over a field of view, the reflected light is detected by a plurality of convergent lens 11, 12, 13, Fig.8 each having the same focal length and being disposed on an arc of a circle of radius smaller than the lenses’ focal length with their optical axes convergent at the centre M of the circle so that their foci F 1 , F 2 , F 3 – lie on a circle concentric with the circle. A rotating mirror is disposed at the centre M of the circle and reflects the images produced by the lenses sequentially in synchronism with the scanning of the laser beam on to a photosensitive detector 24 via a field diaphragm 25. The sensitive surface of the detector is disposed on the circle passing through the foci of the lenses. The system is preferably mounted on an aircraft. The lenses may be biconvex, meniscus or planoconvex, formed from spherical segments of a sphere.
