Abstract

1289529 Photoconductive material CANON KK 22 Sept 1969 [21 Sept 1968 10 Jan 1969 20 Feb 1969 (2) 6 March 1969 (3) 13 March 1969 (2) 17 March 1969 (2) 18 March 1969 (4) 20 March 1969 (2) 4 April 1969] 46667/69 Heading H1K A photosensitive composition comprises a material obtained by reactively mixing an organic photoconductor, a free radical former having a free radical produced by radiation and an organic colour forming compound. The colour forming compound is a compound which will combine with a free radical to give a coloured compound other than a dye base oxidizable to a dye. The composition may be combined with a binder and coated on a support to form an electrophotographic plate. The photoconductors, free radical formers, binders, additives and supports used are similar to those in Specification 1,240,570 as are the methods of forming the composition. The colour forming compound may be a secondary or tertiary arylamine, a carbazole, an indole, a 1,3,4-oxadiazole, a 1,3,4-triazole, an imidazole, a pyrazoline, an aminophenyl oxazole. a benzidine, a 1,3-diphenyl tetrahydroimidazole, a phenazine, an acridine, an acylhydrazone, a quinoxaline, a pyridine, an N-di-substituted amino substituted arylideneazine, a quinoline, a thiazole, a spiropyran, an ethylene derivative, a benzyl pyridine or a carboxy substituted aromatic amine.
