Abstract
1292132 Float glass containers GLAVERBEL 9 Oct 1969 [30 Oct 1968] 49687/69 Heading C1M [Also in Division F4] A float tank for molten metal in the float glass process having its interior space bounded at least in part by a lining which is at least partly of plural-layer construction, is characterized in that such lining comprises an outer rigid skin and an inner rigid skin which is composed of at least one element held in space facing relationship to the outer skin by localized connectors. As shown, an outer metal skin 25 is separated from an inner skin formed by refractory graphite blocks 51, 48, 40 by an intermediate space 29 containing three refractory layers 30, 31, 32 of heat-insulating materials. The localized connectors 52 comprise a cylindrical part 55, a tubular part 56 and a foot part 57, the cylindrical part 55 having two enlargements 59 and 60 engaging the graphite blocks. A ball 68 bearing against an internal shoulder 71 at the bottom of the tubular part 56 and pin 70 in the part 56, permits angular movement of the connector parts 55 and 56, relative to the part 57, in any direction.
