Abstract
1294513 Electric heating panels ELECTRICITE NEUCHATELOISE SA 4 Sept 1970 [10 March 1970] 42574/70 Heading H5H A radiant heating panel for floors, walls or ceilings comprises a support plate 1 made of low thermal conductivity material, e.g. expanded polystyrene or foamed polyurethane, a heating element 5 housed in grooves 2 in one surface of the plate and covered by a layer of electrical insulation, and cement retaining said element 5 in the grooves. The element 5 comprises a Ni-Cr wire secured to an insulated copper supply cable by crimped connectidns covered by heat shrunk watertight sheaths. A bush (7), (Fig. 1, not shown), in the side of the plate 1 increases the strength of the panel where the supply cable passes through it. A decorative layer 8, incorporating a reinforcing glass fibre fabric covers the radiating surface of the panel, this layer being covered by a layer of paint. As shown a plurality of panels bonded to a concrete slab 9 of a ceiling have plastics cable troughs 11, 12 along their edges secured to the slab 9 by screws 13. In a suspended ceiling of panels, the adjacent edges of panels have slots parallel to the radiating surface which receive transverse arms of lugs suspended from hooks secured to a concrete ceiling. A relay mounted in series with the heating elements protects them in the event of their accidental perforation.
