Abstract

1294671 Making panel radiators MYSON HEATING PRODUCTS Ltd 6 March 1970 [8 March 1969] 12327/69 Heading B3A A method for the continuous production of panel radiators 10 wherein two metal sheets 12 and 14 in juxtaposition are pressed to form complementarily-shaped, continuous length, panel wall sections having manifolds 16 and interconnecting ducts 18, the sheets being intermittently subjected to a further pressing action to collapse and/or reduce the manifolds at selected points between successive ducts prior to securing the sheets together, and thereafter severing them at said selected points into separate panels. In one embodiment (see Fig. 1) the manifold on the front face has been merged into the normal plane of the original flat sheets by means of a sloping wall 22 while the crosssectional area of the manifold on the rear face has been reduced by a sloping wall 24 and, after a parallel flat wall section, has been further reduced by a similar sloping wall 26. The flat wall section constitutes a land which can accommodate the flange of a union 28 inserted in a hole formed in the manifold simultaneously with the reduction and/or collapse.
