Abstract

1297053 Valves FRANCE ARMED FORCES MINISTER OF 3 March 1970 [4 March 1969] 10216/70 Heading F2V Flow from a high pressure inlet Ca to one or more outlets Cd, is controlled by a piston P1 whose movement is governed by a toggle linkage B1, B2, B3 having a damping piston P2 connected thereto. In the state of the valve shown, the linkage is restrained from collapsing by a retaining pin V1 subject to the control of a pneumatic jack. With the pin V1 released, the linkage collapses as a result of the inlet pressure acting on the piston P1 and/or as a result of a release pin P2 engaging toggle link B3, the release pin being under the control of a pneumatic jack. Movement of piston P1 consequent to the collapse of the toggle linkage, is damped by damping piston P2 which compresses the air contained in a valve damping chamber A1. The transfer of shock from piston P2 to piston P1 is prevented by the provision, within the damping piston P2, of a throttling orifice M1 through which oil contained in chamber A2 is made to pass. Upon the pressure within the inlet Ca being reduced, the valve is returned to the position shown by the compressed air in chamber A1 acting on the damping piston P2. In the state of the linkage shown, the retaining force acting on link B3 is smaller than the force acting on piston P1.
