Abstract
1300234 Detecting neutrons INSTYTUT BADAN JADROWYCH 24 Dec 1969 [28 Dec 1968] 62961/69 Heading G6P In a triple-axis neutron spectrometer a reactor neutron beam enters a monochromator M through an opening whose size in determined by the size of a wedge 10, the beam striking a monochromating crystal mounted on a table 4 to form a spectrum of monochromatic neutron beams. A particular wavelength is selected by a collimator and the selected beam impinges on a sample to be analysed, which is mounted on a table 14, and is scattered. An analyser 40 and shield 19 bearing a collimator (not shown) are rotated until the collimator picks up the scattered neutron beam. By suitable gearing this rotation also moves a neutron trap (26), Fig. 2 (not shown), thus preventing further passage of the beam.
