Abstract

1300814 Measuring speed electrically; measuring duration ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 18 March 1970 [18 March 1969] 12910/70 Headings G1N and G1U [Also in Divisions G4 and H3] The angular speed of a shaft is determined by a slotted ferro-magnetic disc 13, Fig. 4, on the shaft, rotating between coils 11, 12 of an oscillator comprising transistor T10, oscillating at a frequency determined by coil 12 and capacitor C12. The resulting bursts of oscillations are fed via D10 to a monostable multi-vibrator 20, producing square pulses each corresponding to one oscillatory burst from transistor T10, and each making a transistor T13 conductive to pass a constant current to charge capacitor C14 to a voltage indicative of the pulse duration. This voltage is fed to a capacitor C17 via electronic switch 33 comprising transistor T16, which is made conductive by the differentiated leading edge of each square pulse, and transistor T15, which is made conductive by the differentiated trailing edge of each square pulse. The leading edge of each square pulse is also differentiated by capacitor C18 and resistor R20 to make transistor D11 conductive, whereby capacitor C14 is discharged, to be recharged for the duration of the pulse. The voltage on capacitor C17, representing the frequency of the pulses from multi-vibrator 20 and the angular speed of disc 13, is indicated on a meter 18. In a modification Fig. 3 (not shown), the number of oscillations in each burst is counted and converted to an analogue voltage.
