Abstract

1301338 Aircraft arresting net BORGS FABRIKS AB 14 Oct 1970 [14 Nov 1969] 48765/70 Heading B7G An aircraft arresting net Fig. 1 comprises at least two parallel net elements formed of spaced net horizontal bands 7, 10 and 8, 9 respectively interconnected by vertical bands 11 and 12, adjacent ends of horizontal bands of pairs of adjacent net elements being connected by net loops 15 which pass around a coupling means 17, attached to brake lines 18, provided on each side of the net. The net is adapted to be suspended from standards 3, 4 by lines 5, 6, the brake lines 18 being attached to braking means 1, 2. An aircraft crashing the net causes the net loops to slide through the couplings so distributing the load uniformly between the spaced vertical bands. Stop means 20, 21 cooperating with stops 23 limit the extent of sliding. More than two net elements may be used to achieve greater braking capability and in this case a single coupling (24) Fig. 5 (not shown), attached to a braking line 18 through eye member 28, is equipped with pins 16, stop rollers 26, 27 and direction changing rollers for each loop. The loop portions on the coupling may be arranged in the same horizontal plane or, if there are many net elements, in a superposed relationship.
