Abstract
1304822 Closing and tying bags DOMAIN INDUSTRIES Inc 4 Jan 1971 [8 Jan 1970] 245/71 Heading B8C Bags are conveyed to brushes (12) which straighten and flatten the open ends and then to belts 13, 14 which grip the flatten ends and feed them into a gathering pocket 22. A length of strand 5 is fed into the pocket by rollers 48, 49. A guide plate 24 which forms one side and the end of the pocket is pivoted as pushers 15a, (16a) on chains 15, 16 engage the bunched end of a bag and push it onto surface 34 of a plate 32 causing the plate to pivot and to swing the trailing ends of the strand to a twisting hook 35. The pivoting of the guide plate 24 releases a one revolution clutch causing a plate 53 to swing and thus a blade 31 to cut the strand, and roller 49 to rotate to feed a further length of strand.
