Abstract

1305137 Producing aromatic hydrocarbons ASAHI KASEI KOGYO KK 6 Feb 1970 [10 Feb 1969 28 Aug 1969 25 Dec 1969] 5820/70 Heading C5E Aromatic hydrocarbons are produced by heating a mixture of H 2 and non-aromatic hydrocarbons to 300-650‹ C. in the presence of a catalyst comprising Pt and Pb. The catalyst may also contain Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Zn, Cd, Hg, Ge, Sr, Bi, Cr, Mo, W, U, Re, Ru, Rh, Pd, Os and/or Ir, and may include Al 2 O 3 , SiO 2 , SiO 2 -Al 2 O 3 , kaolin, bentonite or a zeolite as carrier. The Pt may be present in amount 0À01-5 wt. per cent, the Pb 0À01-5 wt. per cent and the third component 0-10 wt. per cent. Examples describe the conversion of n-heptone to a mixed aromatic product, mainly toluene, and of a naphtha feedstock comprising paraffins, olefins naphthenes and aromatics to a product of much higher aromatic content.
