Abstract
1306409 Ferrous alloy TELEDYNE Inc 18 Dec 1970 [30 Dec 1969] 60341/70 Heading C7A [Also in Division B3] A weld deposit comprises:- C 0À3 – 0À12 Mn 0À05 – 1À0 Si 0À2 – 0À7 Cr up to 1À0 Ni 6À5 – 11 Mo up to 1À0 V up to 0À12 P up to 0À02 S up to 0À02 with the balance Fe. The weld retains its strength and toughness after austenitizing at 1500‹F for 1 hour, water quenching, tempering at 1100‹F for 1 hour and again water quenching. The weld may be formed in plate material having a similar composition using a low hydrogen linefluoride coated electrode with the alloying metals in the coating. The electrode consists of a mild steel core and a coating comprising 20-55% of the electrode and having the composition; up to 30% iron and alloying metal powder, 2-7% deoxidizer metal powder, 4-15% metal fluoride, 5-15% alkaline earth carbonate, up to 10% slag builder and modifier and 0À5-8% inorganic binder material.
