1313400 Electrolytic capacitors P R MALLORY & CO Inc 24 April 1970 [28 April 1969] 19904/70 Heading H1M To enable a wet electrolytic capacitor to withstand reversal of polarity when it is used with an electrolyte comprising sulphuric, nitric or phosphoric acid or an alkali metal salt thereof, the cathode can 11 has an internal pore-free coating 12 of gold, platinium or an alloy thereof. The metal of can 11 may be copper, silver, brass, bronze, steel or nickel-copper alloy. The effective surface area of the cathode may be increased by coating it with a layer 16 of finely divided gold, platinium or carbon. Layer 12 may be pre-formed or electroplated, or sheets of the metals of the two layers may be rolled together and formed into the cathode can.
