1318389 Measuring fluid flow ROSEMOUNT ENG CO 11 Sept 1970 [22 Sept 1969] 43638/70 Heading G1R In a fluid velosity sensing device, such as for determining the speed of an aircraft, a probe 11 has a longitudinal axis 14 arranged to the plane of measurement and is divided into four sealed compartments 21, 22, 23 and 24 and each compartment has a pressure tube 21A, 22A, 23A and 24A open thereto, tubes 21A, 22A lead to apressure transducer 25, Fig. 1 (not shown), which senses the pressure differential between compartments 21, 22 and tubes 23A, 24A lead to a similar transducer 26 sensing the pressure differential between compartments 23, 24 and the arrangement is such that the probe 11 on moving such axis x-x at an angle # relative to the arrow creates a pressure difference passing through the ports 31, 32, 33 and 34 leading to the respective compartments 21, 22, 23 and 24 create a voltage output from the transducer 25, 26 proportional to the airspeed in the direction probe is moving at static pressure chamber 37, formed between bulkheads 17, 36, is provided with two forward facing ports 38 and one aft port 39, Fig. 4 (not shown), and a sensing tube 40 leading to a suitable instrument 41, Fig. 1 (not shown). A heating element 20 is provided.
