Abstract

1319088 Magnetic heads MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 18 June 1970 [23 June 1969] 29724/70 Heading G5R A multi-element magnetic head unit is constructed by joining two magnetic oxide core sections 4, 5 through a gap spacer, 6 as in Fig. 1a, removing the lower portions of the sections, and cutting a series of slots 8 extending into the spacer thereby to produce the structure shown in the upper part of Fig. 1b; shielding plates 10 with non-magnetic strips 9 are then fixed in slots 8, yokes 12 with coils 11 are joined to the oxide parts 7, and the arrangement is potted and cased, as in Fig. 1d (not shown). The assembly is then ground/lapped until the plates 10 and strips 9 are exposed and, while observing in the directions A, A1, grinding/lapping is continued until the desired reduced gap depth size has been achieved.
