Abstract
1324594 Antiskid braking systems GIRLING Ltd 30 Nov 1970 [17 Feb 1970] 7444/70 Heading F2F An antiskid hydraulic braking system with a master cylinder 100 supplying fluid to at least one slave cylinder via a modulator 32, 34 has a single driven pump 101 supplying pressure fluid to both the master cylinder and the modulators 32, 34, pressure responsive means in the form of a switch 120, causing the supply to be cut off when a predetermined control pressure has been reached in an accumulator 110. The pump may be driven by the starter motor of the vehicle. On switching on the ignition of the vehicle pressure switches 116, 120 both close and a relay 119 is actuated to start motor 105 and pump 101, a valve 117 being opened to allow fluid to be supplied to the control circuit. When the control pressure and brake applying pressure have reached a predetermined value, low pressure switch 116 opens and deenergizes relay 118 to allow valve 117 to close. The pump 101 continues to deliver fluid to accumulator 110 until brake applying pressure reaches a predetermined value e.g. 2500 p.s.i. when the high pressure switch 120 opens to cut out the motor which is energized again if the control pressure or the brake applying pressure falls.
