1348071 Hydrogen peroxide DEUTSCHE GOLDUND SILBER – SCHEIDEANSTALT 25 Aug 1971 [27 Aug 1970] 39917/71 Heading C1A In the preparation of hydrogen peroxide by the anthraquinone process, the activity of the Pt group metal hydrogenation catalyst is maintained at full level by ensuring that the working solution entering the hydrogenation stage contains at least 250 mgm/litre of hydrogen peroxide. The catalyst may comprise one or more Pt group metals and may be deposited on a support material, e.g. silica containing materials, aluminium oxide or active carbon. The catalyst may be used as a fixed bed or as a suspension. The preferred catalyst contains Pd. The preferred concentration of H 2 O 2 present in the hydrogenation stage is 300 to 1000 mgm/l. of working solution. The H 2 O 2 may have been extracted after oxidation using either water or organic vapours. The desired cone. of H 2 O 2 may be maintained by operating the extraction step such that sufficient H 2 O 2 remains in the solution or by adding H 2 O 2 to the hydrogenation stage.
