Abstract
1353750 Screw conveyers; discharging hoppers STURTEVANT ENG CO Ltd 5 May 1971 [22 May 1970] 25010/70 Headings B8A and B8S [Also in Division B1] A screw 3 delivers pigment from a hopper 1 through a conduit 2 to a main screw conveyer of a blender (not shown) for granular or powdered synthetic plastics. An idler wheel 7 mounted for rotation in a plane containing the screw axis extends through a slot 14 in an extension 13 of the conduit 2 and has teeth engaging the screw to form a barrier preventing the pigment from rotating with the screw. An agitator 11 is mounted on a crank 10 driven by the wheel 7 which is itself driven by the screw 3.
