Abstract
1354209 Cable pulling member INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 30 Nov 1972 [2 Dec 1971] 55261/72 Heading D1T A cable pulling member made from a single piece of metal comprises an eye 3, a spike 2 and an intermediate cylindrical portion that has one or more reduced-diameter circumferential recesses 4, 5. In use the spike and rod are driven along the cable axis and clamping devices are used to force the cable strands into the recesses. Each recess is preferably formed by reducing the diameter of the rod by 30-50% over a length of rod corresponding to 1-2 rod diameters. The recesses should be separated by a length of rod corresponding to at least ¢ rod diameter. A layer of tape may be applied to the assembly to make a substantially water-tight pulling end.
