Abstract
1357836 Prestressed concrete CONCRETE INDUSTRIES (MONIER) Ltd 13 Oct 1972 [11 Nov 1971] 47317/72 Heading B5A Apparatus for laying wires in series of aligned moulds 23 (Fig. 1) comprises wire reels 12, two apertured supporting blocks 26 for each row of moulds and through which the wires are threaded, a pair of bolsters 11 and 43, and a trolley 35 running on tracks 37. A pattern plate 20 is moved between spaced guides 19 (Fig. 2) to the end of the first row of moulds, and all the supporting blocks 26 aligned on support members 24. Wire from the reels 12 (Fig. 1) is fed through aligned apertures in the pattern plate 20 and blocks 26 and anchored in the last block by tapered collets (41) (see Fig. 4, not reproduced). The last block 26 is transported by a winch or tractor 39 and the trolley 35 to the far end (left) of the mould row, and deposited against abutments of the bolster 43. The next-to-last block 26 is moved by trolley 35 adjacent the bolster 11, anchor collets applied, and the block dropped through apertures 29 (Fig. 2) in the support members 24 onto a bolster support 31. The wires are cut, the pattern plate 20 and blocks 26 aligned with the second row of moulds, and the process repeated. Finally, the bolster 43 (Fig. 1) is moved by hydraulic cylinders 45 to tension the wires and concrete is cast, to mould prestressed ties or sleepers.
