Abstract
1361358 Temperature sensors VYZKUMNY USTAV ORGANICKYCH SYNTEZ 15 Dec 1972 [15 Dec 1971] 57960/72 Heading H1K A temperature sensor is made by weaving a temperature sensitive resistance wire with electrically non-conductive fibres to form a fabric, sandwiching this between further sheets of fabric and encapsulating the composite structure in resin. In the described embodiment, Fig. 2, platinum wire of À043 mm. diameter is woven with glass warp and weft fibres of .08 mm. diameter, the wire forming a serpentine the ends of which are connected to contacts of thicker platinum wire or, as shown, platinum foil 3 at the edge of the fabric. The fabric and platinum foil contact strips are mounted within a glass fabric frame which is disposed between glass fabric sheets 7, 8, the latter being provided with apertures at 9 which allow attachment of connectors 5 while preventing the contacts being pulled out. The assembly is coated with silicone resin, bent to the required form and the resin cured under high temperature and pressure. Two or more resistance wires may be woven into the same sheet of fabric and/or several sensors mounted on one another and moulded into a unit by the curing step.
