Abstract

1363451 Telegraphy KOKUSAI DENSHIN DENWA KK 3 Aug 1971 [3 Aug 1970] 36498/71 Heading H4P To reduce peaks in the power spectrum of a digital phase or frequency modulated radio carrier wave, the modulating digital signal is combined with a digital noise signal prior to modulation. An analogue signal is converted in a coder 1, driven by clock source 5, to a digital signal V 1 which is combined in a combiner 2 with a digital noise signal V 2 from generator 3. The resulting signal phase, or frequency, modulates a radio carrier (4). The combiner may be an exclusive OR or NOR circuit. In a receiver the demodulated signal is combined with a locally generated digital noise signal in a similar combining circuit to extract the original digital signal. The arrangement may be used in a radio telegraphic communication channel and a station identification signal UV may be added to each frame.
