Abstract
1368509 Treating exhaust gas ROVER CO Ltd 24 April 1973 [22 April 1972] 18775/72 Heading F1B Catalyst unit for an I. C. engine exhaust system comprises a container 11 having a gas inlet 12 and a gas outlet 13, at least one catalyst carrier 14 and mounting means disposing the or each carrier within the container and consisting of one or more hollow metallic gaskets 15 filled with a gas and hermetically sealed to provide a cushioned support for the carrier. In a modification the gaskets extend around the corners of the carrier(s) to form a seal between the end faces of the carrier and container. The gaskets are filled with an inert gas under pressure. The catalyst carrier comprises a ceramic matrix supporting a reducing catalyst.
