Abstract
1377437 Change-speed gearing control DAIMLER-BENZ AG 12 May 1972 [14 May 1971] 22496/72 Heading F2D To reduce gear shift jerk in automatically shifted stepped gearing, the actuating force of shifting actuators acting on frictional elements is regulated in dependence upon the difference between the actual and prescribed values of the rate of change of engine speed. The prescribed value is varied in relation to operating parameters of the vehicle. As shown, voltages derived from the torque Md, the input rotational speed and the gear-box oil temperature are fed to an amplifier V 2 together with voltages corresponding to the particular gear change and to the vehicle loading, the output signal from the amplifier V 2 constituting the prescribed value for the rate of change of engine speed, and being fed, together with the actual value, into a regulator R. The actuating pressure of the shifting actuator, dependent on torque, temperature and rotational speed is represented by a voltage U 1 and is fed via a switch S 1 to an adding amplifier V 1 with which the control stage S for the pressure regulator is controlled. When an upwards gear shift is started, switches S 1 , S 2 change over, whereby a voltage U 1 /K and the output of the regulator R are connected to the amplifier V 1 . To obtain a gentle transition, nozzles may be fitted in the oil pipe or the control signal may be switched in through a low-pass R.C. unit TP. A rounding-off of the transition at the end of the shift operation can be obtained by reducing the prescribed value towards the end of the operation, Figs. 3-5 (not shown). For all shifting operations, the same switching time may be provided by a timing circuit, Fig. 6 (not shown).
