Abstract
1377844 Supply fittings for bidets and shower baths J JOANNON 14 March 1972 [22 March 1971 15 Feb 1972] 11758/72 Heading A4N [Also in Divisions A5 and F2] A generally cylindrical douche device 7 may when not being used as a douche, form part of the supply fittings of a shower handle 9 provided with a rose 2, Fig.1, or of apparatus, Fig.3, for filling a bidet 32. The device 7 is slidable within a generally cylindrical member 13 in the spray head and a valve 19 having a central passage 22 therein is maintained open while the device is in the head. When removed, Fig.2 (not shown), and used as a douche the valve is maintained on its seat by water pressure and the water passes only through the passage 22 and thus at a reduced rate. When associated with the bidet, Fig.3, and used as a douche, water is supplied to the device 7 from a pipe (40), Fig.4 (not shown) via a passage (48) and a flexible pipe 35, a spring-loaded valve (45) preventing access of water to a spout 30a. When used as a supply fitting, the device is inserted in a transverse pipe 34 and holds the valve (45) open by engaging a spindle (46) so that water reaches the spout via the valve (45) and also through the device 7. The device 7 is secured in the members 9 and 34 respectively by a threaded nut which compresses a resilient seal.
