Abstract
1378081 Press filter N K VERWALTUNGS AG 8 March 1972 [9 March 1971] 10712/72 Heading B1D [Also in Division Gl] In an apparatus for the filtration and density determination of a liquid, particularly of fat extracted by wet grinding in a solvent, of the type having a magnetically actuable float movable within a chamber, the float chamber and a filter connected thereabove are enclosed in a substantially massive metal body. or block provided with thermostatic control. In the apparatus described, a mixture of ground oilbearing material e.g. seeds and solvent is placed in platen press filter 30 and the extract filtered through a paper disc on perforated plate 33 into float chamber 20. Float 23 contains a magnet 24, and the potential applied to coils S1 and S2 is adjusted so that the cusp 23a just breaks the surface of the liquid. The change in potential from that necessary to produce the same effect in pure solvent is a measure of the density of the solution from which the fat content of the oil-bearing material may be determined.
