Abstract
1378120 Water jet propulsion SCHOTTELWERFT JOSEF BECKER KG 5 April 1973 [5 April 1972] 16390/73 Heading B7V The water jet propulsion system 5 of a craft 1 having an inboard motor 8 comprises a curved elbow-duct 6 accommodated within recess 4 of the hull so as not to project beyond the bottom of the craft. The elbow-duct is swivellable around a vertical axis and has a horizontally directed outlet and an inlet directed downwardly and substantially vertically. The downwardly directed part of the elbow-duct contains a propeller 7 or propellers having a vertical axis of rotation and driven by the motor. In the embodiment shown the elbow-duct is arranged between two opposed outlet tunnels 15, 16 directed towards opposite sides of the craft thus giving a steering action.
